Today (April 14), Katy Perry made history as the first pop singer to go to space. The superstar was part of Blue Origin’s NS-31 mission—the first all-female spaceflight since Valentina Tereshkova’s solo journey in 1963. The 10-minute suborbital flight aboard the New Shepard rocket launched from West Texas and reached the edge of space before safely returning to Earth. Alongside Katy were journalist Gayle King, philanthropist Lauren Sánchez, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, and film producer Kerianne Flynn.
