At the 67th Annual Grammy Awards in February 2025, the “Pink Pony Club” hitmaker won Best New Artist and used her acceptance speech to advocate for record labels to provide livable wages and healthcare, particularly for emerging artists. She shared her own struggles, recalling how she was signed as a minor, later dropped by her label, and left without job experience or health insurance during the pandemic.
In her New York Times interview, Lady Gaga expressed her support, stating, “I think Chappell Roan is speaking the truth, and she is courageous to do so.”
At the 2025 Grammys, Chappell closed her speech with a provocative question: “Labels, we got you, but do you got us?” Her words sparked a broader discussion about financial security and labor conditions for musicians.
