Lil Uzi Vert has officially entered a new phase of independence. On November 24, Roc Nation announced that the rapper has joined Roc Nation Distribution, marking one of the most significant pivots of his career. The news was shared by Roc Nation Distribution President Krystian Santini, who highlighted both the magnitude of the deal and the creative vision behind it. Santini described Uzi as “a global icon and a dynamic force,” emphasizing that the partnership is designed to give the artist complete freedom while supplying the infrastructure needed for long-term artistic expansion.

The announcement arrived on the same day Lil Uzi Vert released two new singles, “Chanel Boy” and “Relevant.” These tracks represent Uzi’s first releases as a fully independent artist—a milestone made possible by his new ownership of his masters. With full control of his original recordings, Uzi can now dictate the terms of distribution, monetization, and future projects without traditional label constraints. The rapper also signed a publishing deal with Roc Nation Publishing, which will oversee his songwriting catalog and royalty administration.
This moment feels like a strategic return to Uzi’s foundation. A decade ago, he launched his career as an independent artist with the 2014 EP Purple Thoughtz Vol. 1 and the breakthrough mixtape Luv Is Rage. The early momentum quickly attracted major-label attention, leading to his signing with Atlantic Records, where he remained until 2024. Last year, Uzi delivered his final project under that deal, Eternal Atake 2, closing out a chapter that produced several platinum records.
