Lily Allen’s remarkable comeback is heading to the screen. Prime Video has officially announced a feature-length documentary exploring the singer-songwriter’s life and career, with the film set to premiere globally in 2027.
The project arrives following the success of Allen’s new album, West End Girl, which was released in 2025.
According to Prime Video, the documentary will offer an intimate portrait of Allen, tracing her journey from her early years through the resurgence sparked by West End Girl. The film promises to revisit the defining moments of her career, from becoming the “Queen of MySpace” and reshaping the music industry in the mid-2000s to reestablishing herself as one of Britain’s most influential artists.
The streaming platform describes the documentary as a story of “resilience, reinvention, and an artist reclaiming her narrative on her own terms.” It will feature interviews with people closest to Allen while exploring how her outspoken songwriting, humor, and honesty helped pave the way for a new generation of female pop stars.
Award-winning filmmaker Mat Whitecross will direct the feature. Whitecross is widely recognized for acclaimed music documentaries including Oasis: Supersonic and Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams. The documentary is being co-produced by Magna Studios and Mint Pictures.
Prime Video has confirmed a worldwide release in 2027, although an exact premiere date has not yet been announced.
The announcement comes as Lily Allen continues enjoying one of the strongest periods of her career. Earlier this year, she expanded her Lily Allen: Performs West End Girl tour with a newly announced North American leg after strong ticket demand across the United Kingdom. Originally conceived as an intimate theatre production when it was unveiled in October 2025, the show quickly grew into an arena tour following overwhelming fan interest.
Released before the tour launched, West End Girl became Allen’s highest-charting album in years, peaking at No. 2 on the UK Albums Chart and earning a Silver certification after surpassing 60,000 units. The project also received a nomination for British Album of the Year at the Brit Awards, while singles “Madeline” and “Pussy Palace” returned Allen to the UK charts, with the latter becoming her first top 10 hit in more than a decade.
