Louis Tomlinson is closing out 2025 by firmly setting the stage for his next major chapter. In a New Year’s Eve post shared with fans, the British singer-songwriter reflected on the past year as a period of quiet construction, confirming that everything has been leading toward his third studio album, How Did I Get Here?, due out January 23, 2026.

2025 has been a year full of reflection, creation, and building,” Tomlinson wrote. “Making the record, releasing the singles, getting the work in. It felt like a build-up all year.” The message struck a chord with fans, who are counting down the days until the new album’s release. His closing words—“Just you f***ing wait till next year!!!”—made clear that the momentum is only beginning.

The recap arrives as anticipation continues to grow around How Did I Get Here?, a 12-track project Tomlinson has described as his “most optimistic” record to date. Written largely during time spent in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica, the album reflects a period of personal grounding and renewed clarity. Produced by longtime collaborator Nico Rebscher, the project leans into emotional directness while maintaining the anthemic alt-pop sound that has defined Tomlinson’s solo career.

The album rollout officially began in September with lead single “Lemonade,” which marked a tonal reset and introduced a brighter, more open perspective. The track was met with a strong fan response, earning Best New Release of the Week in InMusic fan poll. On the charts, it debuted at No. 89 on the UK Singles Chart and climbed to No. 29 on the UK Indie Chart, signaling sustained interest ahead of the full release. Follow-up single “Palaces” was also voted Best New Release of the Week by the community.

How Did I Get Here? follows 2022’s Faith in the Future, which debuted at No. 1 in the UK and No. 5 on the Billboard 200.
