Madison Beer is opening up about the emotional blueprint behind her upcoming album Locket, offering new insight into the project’s intimate structure and thematic arc. In a recent conversation with Billboard Italia, the singer revealed that the record unintentionally evolved into a chronological portrait of a relationship’s rise, decline, and eventual closure. The result, she says, is an emotional journey designed to be experienced from start to finish.
Beer explained that Locket begins in a playful and seductive space, reflecting the early spark that defines a new relationship. “It starts in a fun and somewhat sexy way,” she explained. As the album progresses, the tone shifts. The songs begin to expose red flags, doubt, and self-awareness. She describes a point of realization—one where the listener, like the narrator, understands the relationship no longer serves them. The story then moves toward acceptance and release, closing one chapter and easing into a renewed sense of confidence. The album’s final track, “Nothing at All,” stands apart from the narrative. Beer calls it a deeply personal moment, disconnected from anyone but herself, and a fitting way to conclude a record rooted in vulnerability.
Locket, arriving January 16, 2026, marks Madison Beer’s third studio album and her most carefully curated yet. Recently, she shared the 11-song tracklist through a short teaser video on social media. In interviews, including a conversation with Vogue Italia, Beer emphasized her decision to keep the tracklist concise, explaining that limiting the album to 11 songs helped her maintain clarity and avoid the creative dilution she sees in longer projects.
Anticipation for the project has steadily intensified. At the 2025 Variety Hitmakers Brunch, Beer revealed that the title of the song “Angel Wings” came directly from a fan who suggested it while she was in the studio. She also named her top three tracks from the album—“Bad Enough,” “Angel Wings,” and “For The Night.”
Momentum around Locket has been fueled by the strong performance of its lead single “Make You Mine” (2024), which earned a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Pop Recording and peaked at No. 50 on the UK Singles Chart. Follow-up singles “Yes Baby” and “Bittersweet” have kept the rollout active, with “Bittersweet” gaining notable traction on Spotify.
