The Path to Dreamsicle
In the summer of 2024, Maren Morris released her fifth extended play, Intermission. The project marked her first foray into pop, departing from her signature country sound. The EP featured five tracks, including “Cut!” with Julia Michaels—all of which are also included on Dreamsicle. By the end of the year, the Grammy-winning singer began hinting at her next full-length project, kicking things off with “People Still Show Up” as the lead single. The album was officially announced in March 2025, followed by the release of two more singles. According to a press release, Dreamsicle marks “a whole new chapter for Maren and follows the release of her August 2024 EP, Intermission,” suggesting that this will be a predominantly pop record.
