First of all, Princess of Power is set to arrive just in time for summer—Marina confirmed that the LP will drop on Friday, June 6th. This release marks a new chapter for the 39-year-old singer, as it will be her first independent album. Back in June 2021, she released her fifth studio project, Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land, and shortly after revealed it would be her final album with Atlantic Records, the label she had been signed to for fourteen years.
At the end of 2024, Marina shared an update on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “I’m off to finish THE album.” Since then, fans have eagerly awaited new music, marking nearly four years since her last full-length release. She made her official comeback earlier this year with the single “Butterfly,” independently released as the lead single from Princess of Power. The pop track was praised by both fans and critics, with many lauding the title as a symbol of rebirth in her career. In March, she followed up with “Cupid’s Girl” as the second single, and now, “Cuntissimo” has arrived as the third.
While the full tracklist remains under wraps, Apple Music confirms that Princess of Power will include 13 tracks.
Not much is known yet about the sonic direction of the album, but it’s expected to fall within Marina’s signature pop, electropop, and synth-pop styles. In a recent interview with Plastik, Marina described the project as “very playful” and said it features a character-led concept—“but not in the same way as Electra Heart.”
On her official website, Princess of Power is described as an album “inspired by the superpower that is love.” The record explores themes of power and leadership for a new generation. “It’s a record that is built on the belief that love doesn’t make us weak—it’s something to be empowered by and celebrated.”
