Miley Cyrus has responded to criticism of her Hollywood Bowl comeback with a sarcastic remark about fans accusing her of not singing every line. During her second sold-out show on Sunday, October 18, the singer paused while performing “Bass Persuades” and quipped, “Oh I forgot I’m supposed to sing every f*cking line,” directly addressing the online reaction to her first concert.
The two performances, held October 16 and 18, marked Cyrus’ first full headlining concerts in roughly four years and her debut at the iconic Los Angeles venue. Both shows sold out amid enormous demand, with nearly 1.5 million people reportedly entering presale queues for a venue that holds around 17,500 to 18,000 spectators.

The controversy began after Friday’s opening night, when videos circulated online showing Miley Cyrus handing vocal parts to the audience and her backing singers during familiar hits, including “Wrecking Ball,” “Party in the U.S.A.,” “We Can’t Stop” and “The Climb.” While she sang more extensively on material from her new album, some viewers questioned her commitment to performing the songs that made her a global star.
Miley addressed the criticism more directly during Sunday’s concert, insisting that her passion for performing should not be questioned. She told the audience she had never been accused of failing to put her heart into something and dismissed the viral clips as clickbait.
“I can take a lot,” she said, “but one thing I will not stand is any question about where my heart is when I’m on the stage. Not one. I am fully present.”
The shows also carried emotional weight. Miley Cyrus became tearful while paying tribute to her godmother Dolly Parton performing “Jolene.”
