Miley Cyrus has revealed why she’s stepping back from massive stadium concerts while speaking candidly to Monica Lewinsky on the Reclaiming podcast. The “Easy Lover” singer confessed that performing for crowds of around 250,000 people felt “disturbing” both physically and emotionally.
“It was disturbing to my body and every holistic version of me,” Cyrus told Lewinsky, describing the overwhelming security presence—guns and guards stationed everywhere—as something she no longer wants to experience. “I don’t want to be anywhere that I need this much protection,” she said.

Miley also explained that, due to her vocal cord health and the personal toll of massive performances, she now focuses on smaller, more meaningful shows. These intimate concerts allow her to connect more deeply with fans and protect her voice, helping her avoid burnout and injury.
Her recent approach to performing reflects this shift: instead of arena tours, she’s delivered Endless Summer Vacation (Backyard Sessions) and private performances at the Chateau Marmont—both more personal and less physically demanding.
Recently, Miley echoed this sentiment in a conversation with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. The Grammy-winning singer revealed that she avoids touring to protect her voice and can’t risk the strain of large-scale performances.
At the moment, Miley is enjoying the success of her ninth album, Something Beautiful—her first visual record—but already has her eye on the next project. During a recent performance, she hinted at her tenth album, saying it will be more experimental and that the tracklist is already finished.
