Olivia Rodrigo is moving quickly into the next phase of her upcoming album rollout. On May 19, the Grammy-winning singer officially announced that her new single “the cure” will arrive this Friday, May 22, calling it “my favorite song on the album and one of my favorite songs I’ve ever made.”

The announcement immediately ignited social media, with fans flooding the comments section with reactions including “UM HELLO I CANT WAIT” and “YAY YAY YAY,” as anticipation around Rodrigo’s third studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, continues accelerating ahead of its June 12 release.

Rodrigo’s latest reveal arrives less than 24 hours after a cryptic lyric campaign began appearing across Los Angeles. Murals painted in handwritten-style text featured emotionally charged lines believed to be tied to the upcoming record, including “why can’t you come stitch me up?” and “It’ll never be the cure.” Fans quickly connected the second lyric to the newly announced single title.

The rapid-fire campaign reflects one of the most ambitious album launches of Rodrigo’s career so far. Earlier this month, she introduced another side of the project during her Saturday Night Live hosting debut, where she premiered the unreleased ballad “Begged” alongside a performance of “Drop Dead.” The latter debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on April 17, becoming another major milestone in Rodrigo’s catalog.

Momentum surrounding the era has only intensified since then. On May 8, Rodrigo headlined Spotify’s Billions Club Live event in Barcelona, where she performed “Drop Dead” live for the first time while celebrating her growing list of billion-stream songs on the platform. The performance arrived during the same week that The Unraveled Tour officially expanded to 86 dates after overwhelming demand across North America and Europe.
