This New Music Friday brings a fresh release from ORA, one of Denmark’s most promising rising acts of 2025. The sibling duo, made up of Lea and Samuel, unveils their first single of the year, “Life Witness,” an upbeat R&B-indie pop track infused with disco influences. Out now on all streaming platforms, the song celebrates their lifelong bond as brother and sister. Lea and Samuel have always been close, despite their differences. Growing up, they experienced life in unique ways but shared a common goal: pursuing a career in music. “Life Witness” is their way of expressing that connection through song. “We wanted to write a song about our relationship—being brother and sister and going through life together, for better or worse,” Samuel explains. “We may not have lived life in the same way growing up, and we are very different people; however, we’ve kind of seen the world through the same eyes. That’s why we’ve always been there for each other-ever since we walked hand in hand in kindergarten—as each other’s life witnesses.”

Aiming to write a song about their bond, Lea and Samuel came up with “Life Witness” during a spontaneous moment in the studio. Samuel found himself singing the iconic “We Are Family” by Sister Sledge, and that playful energy led them to incorporate a subtle tribute to the disco classic. “While making ‘Life Witness,’ we knew it was going to be about sibling bonds,” Lea says. “Caught up in the moment, Samuel suddenly started jumping around the studio singing ‘We Are Family’ by Sister Sledge.” Before finalizing the track, ORA reached out to the legendary Nile Rodgers, who co-wrote “We Are Family,” and received his blessing to reference the iconic lyrics in their song.
Since their early days, ORA has been making waves in the indie pop scene. Back in 2022, they released The Demos, a three-track project that immediately caught fans’ attention. 2024 was a breakthrough year—“Bad Day” became their biggest hit, amassing over 1 million streams on Spotify. Its follow-up, “Space Rock,” achieved similar success, earning airplay on Denmark’s national radio station, P3.
