Copenhagen sibling duo ORA have officially unleashed their debut album, :(:. Released on September 12, the record goes beyond the music itself, carrying a powerful call to embrace mental health conversations, particularly for young people navigating identity, pressure, and neurodiversity.
At the heart of the project is the lead single “Limbo,” a track that fuses a breezy reggae beat with honest, vulnerable lyricism. The song captures the push and pull of emotional highs and lows, written from the perspective of siblings Lea and Samuel, who both live with ADHD. “It’s about accepting that when you’re living with ADHD, you may never experience life in a ‘normal’ middle ground,” Lea explains. “And that’s okay. We wrote this as a celebration of that difference.”

Musically, :(: reflects ORA’s kaleidoscopic sound, merging shimmering modern pop, lush R&B textures, and the crisp spirit of Nordic indie. The title itself, a bittersweet yet hopeful smiley, embodies the idea that joy and light can exist even in dark moments. Tracks such as “Under The Influence,” “Space Rock,” and “Time Lapse” are described by Samuel in terms of color, from vibrant orange to soap-bubble iridescence.
The album was crafted in close collaboration with Jonathan Elkær, who helped shape its genre-blending, cinematic atmosphere. Across 13 songs, ORA channel personal struggles into universal themes, weaving their own experiences with mental health into music that uplifts as much as it challenges.

The journey of ORA took a turning point just a year ago, when they first broke through internationally with their 2024 debut single “Bad Day.” Since then, the sibling duo have received high praise, especially in their native Denmark, where they struck a chord with “Life Witness,” a disco-tinged anthem celebrating siblinghood inspired by Sister Sledge’s “We Are Family.”
With their debut album :(:, ORA not only deliver a full-length project but also close a chapter of their career where music became a form of healing. “When we started, I felt worse than I ever have,” Samuel admits. “But during the process, it became natural for me to talk about how I’m really feeling—and that’s why I stand here today, feeling better than I ever have.”
