ROSÉ’s “new trick” has been crowned the best new release of the week by fans in InMusic’s latest New Music Friday poll on X, taking an overwhelming 90% of the vote. The standalone single finished far ahead of Miley Cyrus’ Bass Persuades, which collected 8%, while Shakira and Maluma’s “Agua” and beabadoobee’s Pylon each received 1%.

The result puts “new trick” firmly at the center of this week’s new music conversation, with ROSÉ’s latest release dominating a poll that also featured four high-profile releases. With 90% of the votes, the song secured more than 11 times the support of the second-place release.

Released September 17, “new trick” marks a sharp turn from the more vulnerable, heartbreak-focused writing that shaped ROSÉ’s 2024 debut solo album, rosie. The new track leans into garage-punk and pop-rock, transforming its breakup perspective into a louder, more playful hook built around the idea of kicking open the next door rather than looking back.

ROSÉ co-wrote the song with Amy Allen and Andrew Wells just two days after the Met Gala. Its visual rollout has also helped give the release an immediate boost. Directed by Dave Meyers and filmed entirely on an iPhone 18 Pro for Apple’s Shot on iPhone campaign, the music video reached approximately 11.6 million views on YouTube within its first 24 hours and about 25 million views after roughly two days.

Streaming and digital platforms have also reflected the song’s early momentum. “New Trick” opened at No. 133 on Spotify’s Global chart with more than 1.37 million streams, marking the fourth-biggest 2026 song debut by a K-pop soloist. The single also reached No. 1 on iTunes in 26 countries.

Miley Cyrus’ Bass Persuades, released September 18 through Atlantic Records, placed second in the InMusic poll with 8%. Her 10th studio album contains 10 tracks spanning dance-pop, post-punk and nocturnal ballads, while the title track reached No. 35 on the Billboard Hot 100 after collecting about 2.46 million Spotify streams on its first day. The album itself opened with 6.2 million Spotify streams during its first full day, while “Let’s Get Married” added approximately 1.42 million global streams.

Shakira and Maluma’s “Agua” and beabadoobee’s Pylon each received 1% of the vote. “Agua,” released September 17, reunites the pair for their first full collaboration since 2018’s “Clandestino” and their fifth song together, blending merengue influences with tropical pop. Meanwhile, Pylon arrived September 18 as beabadoobee’s fourth album, with 14 guitar-heavy tracks featuring Hayley Williams, Turnstile’s Brendan Yates and Deftones’ Chino Moreno.
