ROSÉ has opened up about a meaningful moment of guidance she received from Taylor Swift while navigating one of the most uncertain periods of her career.
Appearing on the Call Her Daddy podcast, the BLACKPINK vocalist reflected on meeting Swift at a party in the United States shortly before she began preparing for her solo path outside the group. At the time, ROSÉ was learning how the American music industry operated and searching for the right label to support her next chapter.
“That was when I was trying to look for a label and everything,” she explained. “But before that, I was learning about how to protect myself — what does everything mean.”
The encounter, ROSÉ said, came naturally. Invited to the same event, the two artists struck up a conversation that quickly turned personal. She recalled explaining to Swift why she was spending time in the U.S. and opening up about her concerns.
“I’m grateful enough to have met her along the way at a party that I was invited to,” she said. “She was so nice. We were chatting, and I explained why I was out in the U.S. Then I was like, ‘Oh, I was kinda struggling with this.’ She was like, ‘Ask me anything,’ and she pulled me aside.”
According to ROSÉ, the moment became an impromptu mentoring session. Swift offered insight into contracts, logistics, and the importance of protecting oneself while building an independent career — advice that resonated deeply as ROSÉ prepared to step forward on her own.
She later signed with Atlantic Records for global distribution. The rest is well-known history. ROSÉ released her debut album rosie in late 2024, which became a major success, fueled in particular by the global hit “APT.”
The story echoes comments the singer previously shared in a 2024 interview with i-D magazine, where she described Swift as “literally the coolest” and “a girl’s girl.” In that conversation, ROSÉ revealed that Swift walked her through specific industry details, explaining what to watch out for and how to remain in control as a solo artist. “She was trying to protect me,” ROSÉ said at the time. “Becoming a solo artist and being independent isn’t easy. There are so many things I need to be cautious about.”
ROSÉ is not the only artist to speak publicly about Swift’s behind-the-scenes mentorship. In recent years, Gracie Abrams, Ice Spice, and Sabrina Carpenter have also credited the singer-songwriter with offering guidance as they navigated pivotal moments in their careers.
