Sabrina Carpenter capped off her Austin City Limits 2025 headlining set with one of the biggest surprises of the weekend — a powerhouse duet with The Chicks. Performing before a packed crowd at Zilker Park on October 11, the 26-year-old pop star brought the iconic country trio onstage for a show-stopping rendition of “Wide Open Spaces” and her hit single “Please Please Please.”
Carpenter’s ACL set was her first as a headliner and marked a full-circle moment in her rapidly ascending career. The show opened with “Busy Woman,” setting the tone for a confident, slick, and high-energy performance that spanned her latest projects, including Short n’ Sweet and Man’s Best Friend. From the infectious “Taste” and “Good Graces” to the emotionally charged “because i liked a boy” and “Tears,” Carpenter held the stage like few pop stars can.

The energy reached its peak when Carpenter paused midway through the show to tease a very special moment. Moments later, The Chicks — Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire, and Emily Strayer — walked onto the stage to deafening cheers. The collaboration began with “Wide Open Spaces,” the beloved 1998 country classic. Immediately following, the group transitioned into Carpenter’s chart-topping hit “Please Please Please,” giving the pop anthem a live country twist. Carpenter then rounded out her set with fan favorites “Don’t Smile” and “Espresso,” the latter igniting the crowd in a euphoric finale.
This ACL performance adds to what has already been a defining year for Sabrina Carpenter. Her 2025 album Man’s Best Friend debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and spawned several global hits, including “Manchild,” “Tears,” and “House Tour.” Beyond her chart success and festival appearances, the Grammy winner is now gearing up to return to the road with her Short n’ Sweet Tour later this month.
