Sandra Bullock appears to have revealed a major musical connection between Olivia Rodrigo, Stevie Nicks and Practical Magic 2. The actress shared a clip of Rodrigo and Nicks performing together on Instagram Sunday, captioning it, “Angel voices that are part of an upcoming film…”
Bullock’s post came one day after Rodrigo and Nicks shared the stage at Daisy Chain Fields, the inaugural women-led charity festival Rodrigo founded at Orange County Great Park in Irvine on August 29. The event featured performances from Chappell Roan, Doechii, Mitski, Bikini Kill, the Breeders and Garbage, alongside special guests including Sarah McLachlan, Alanis Morissette and Nicks.
Olivia Rodrigo closed the festival by performing with several of her musical heroes. She joined McLachlan for “Building a Mystery” and “Angel,” performed “Ironic” with Morissette and ended the night alongside Nicks for Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide.”
Nicks’ appearance carried particular significance given her connection to the Practical Magic franchise. The singer contributed two songs to the 1998 original: “If You Ever Did Believe,” recorded with Sheryl Crow, and a re-recorded version of “Crystal.”
Practical Magic 2 picks up 25 years after the original, with Bullock and Nicole Kidman returning as sisters Sally and Gillian Owens. The sequel introduces Sally’s grown daughters, played by Joey King and Maisie Williams, while Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing return as the Owens family’s aunts.
Directed by Susanne Bier and based on Alice Hoffman’s 2021 novel The Book of Magic, the sequel follows the family as they confront the origins of the centuries-old curse surrounding the Owens women. The story expands beyond the family’s Massachusetts home and takes the characters to the United Kingdom as they search for answers.
Practical Magic 2 arrives in U.S. theaters on September 11, meaning fans may not have to wait long for Bullock’s apparent tease to become official.
