Taylor Swift has done it again — this time rewriting UK chart history. Her twelfth album, The Life of a Showgirl, debuts at No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart with a staggering 423,000 units sold, marking the biggest debut of her career and the largest for any album released this decade.
According to the Official Charts Company, the album’s first-week total represents the biggest UK album debut since Ed Sheeran’s Divide in 2017 (672,000 copies) and the largest opening for an international artist this century. In addition to the album’s record-breaking success, Taylor Swift also makes UK chart history by surpassing Elvis Presley to become the international artist with the most No. 1 albums in UK history — with 14 chart-topping releases to her name.

But Swift’s chart dominance doesn’t stop there. On the UK Singles Chart, she becomes the first female artist in history to occupy the entire Top 3 simultaneously, led by her latest hit “The Fate of Ophelia” at No. 1, followed by “Opalite” at No. 2, and “Elizabeth Taylor” at No. 3. With this achievement, Swift joins Sabrina Carpenter as one of only two female artists to ever hold the No. 1 album and Top 3 singles on the UK charts at the same time.
The Life of a Showgirl, released on October 3, has already shattered several streaming records worldwide. It became the first album in Spotify history to occupy the entire Top 10 of the Global Chart for five consecutive days, while its lead single, “The Fate of Ophelia,” broke the platform’s all-time record for the most single-day streams, debuting with 30.9 million plays, and most single-week streams (132.4M).
