Taylor Swift has reached another rare milestone in the United Kingdom, joining The Beatles in one of the country’s most exclusive chart records. The Official Charts Company has confirmed that Swift’s latest release, The Life of a Showgirl, is the biggest album of 2025 in the UK, marking her second consecutive year at the top with a different studio album.

According to official data, The Life of a Showgirl closed the year with 642,000 units sold nationwide, an extraordinary figure considering the album was released only in October. The achievement follows Swift’s 2024 victory, when The Tortured Poets Department finished as the year’s top-selling album. With this back-to-back success, the 36-year-old singer becomes the first artist since The Beatles to claim the UK’s biggest album of the year title in consecutive years with separate studio projects.

Upon release, The Life of a Showgirl made an immediate and record-breaking impact. The album debuted at No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart with 423,000 units sold in its opening week, the biggest debut of Swift’s career and the largest first-week performance for any album released this decade. It went on to spend four total weeks at No. 1, remaining a constant presence near the top of the chart throughout the year.

Swift’s dominance extended beyond albums. On the UK Singles Chart, she became the first female artist in history to occupy the entire Top 3 simultaneously. “The Fate of Ophelia” led the chart at No. 1, followed by “Opalite” at No. 2 and “Elizabeth Taylor” at No. 3. The feat placed Swift alongside Sabrina Carpenter as the only two female artists to hold the No. 1 album and the Top 3 singles at the same time in the UK.
