Timothée Chalamet has added fresh fuel to one of the internet’s strangest and most persistent theories. During a brief exchange with Heart FM, the actor was asked about rumors claiming he is secretly the masked Liverpool rapper EsDeeKid. Chalamet paused, then offered a teasing reply: “I got no comment on that… Two words: All will be revealed in due time.” His statement, delivered with a half-smile, instantly reignited speculation about the mystery surrounding the UK rap breakout.
The rumor first gained traction this fall, when fans began comparing EsDeeKid’s slight frame, expressive hands, and wardrobe staples to Chalamet’s red-carpet silhouettes. The theory only grew as EsDeeKid’s fame skyrocketed. The masked rapper, who performs in a balaclava and refuses to reveal any personal details, has become one of Europe’s fastest-rising hip-hop figures. His debut album Rebel earned chart placements across the UK and Europe, while tracks like “Phantom” and “4 Raws” drew tens of millions of streams.
Despite the online frenzy, industry insiders have long dismissed the Chalamet theory. EsDeeKid was performing in Milan in October on the same night the actor was photographed in New York. Long-time UK rap journalists also note that the rapper’s accent and regional linguistic detail are far too authentic to be mimicked convincingly. Still, the anonymity at the core of EsDeeKid’s persona keeps the door open for speculation—an element that, whether intentional or not, has only fueled his cult appeal.
