Fans have crowned Tinashe’sPillow Fight” the best new release of the week, giving the track a narrow win in InMusic’s latest weekly poll on X. The Popstar preview earned 39% of the vote, edging out Slayyyter’s “crank 2,” which finished with 34%.

Released September 10 as part of a double single with “I’d Rather Be Alone,” “Pillow Fight” introduces a softer side of Tinashe’s upcoming eighth studio album, Popstar. Built around a restrained piano loop and crisp drums, the track turns the idea of a physical tussle into a playful metaphor for attraction, intimacy and taking control.

The song’s reception comes as Tinashe continues building momentum toward Popstar, which is scheduled for September 25. Earlier singles including “Too Easy” and the hyperpop-influenced “Melatonin” established a more aggressive edge for the era, while “Pillow Fight” strips things back without losing the sensuality that has become central to her music.

A Zac Wiesel-directed music video further emphasizes the song’s physical energy, incorporating Tinashe’s dance background into the flirtatious concept. The contrast between “Pillow Fight” and “I’d Rather Be Alone,” a more vulnerable post-breakup track, also gives the double release a deliberate push-and-pull quality.

Slayyyter came closest to challenging Tinashe in the poll. “crank 2,” released September 10, earned 34% and serves as the sequel to her 2025 track “CRANK.” Produced by the same team, the new song retains the blown-out Jersey club production but redirects its energy toward revenge after a cheating relationship. Its black-and-white video, featuring tornado imagery, cornfields and Americana references, matches the song’s chaotic attitude.

LE SSERAFIM’s “Made My Night” placed third with 14%, following its September 11 release as part of a two-track single album. The house-driven pop song centers on the chemistry of a night that suddenly becomes impossible to end, while B-side “AEIOU” takes a more direct approach to fearless romance. The release also continues the group’s partnership with Overwatch, with its video combining live-action choreography and 3D game animation.

Jhené Aiko’s Westside Whimsy finished with 13%, despite arriving as the week’s biggest full-length release. Her first studio album since 2020’s Chilombo spans 20 tracks and 56 minutes, drawing on West Coast culture, ’90s influences and atmospheric R&B. Kendrick Lamar reunites with Aiko on “So Good,” while Ab-Soul, Larry June, Tyga and OHMA also appear across the project.
