Travis Scott is gearing up for his next musical era. In a new cover story for Billboard, the rapper teased his upcoming album, revealing that while the project is still in the works, he’s excited about its direction.

I want to say the title right now, but people aren’t going to understand it,” Scott said. “I have some more tweaking to do.” While he kept most details under wraps, his comments suggest that the album will continue to push boundaries within hip-hop. In fact, the 33-year-old rapper spoke about his role in shaping the future of hip-hop. “I’m pushing hip-hop,” he said. “It’s 50 years old but still has time to stretch. I feel like, ‘OK, I’m leading the new charge of what the next 50 years of this s–t is going to be like.’”

Scott also shared his desire to collaborate with artists outside his usual sphere, specifically mentioning Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter as dream collaborators. “Yeah, it’s this band called Khruangbin I want to work with,” he said. “This might be crazy, but I would love to get Taylor Swift or Sabrina Carpenter on a hook… I have some ill ideas.”

The Billboard interview comes after the massive success of Utopia, Scott’s most recent album, released in July 2023. The LP debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, selling over 496,000 units in its first week. It featured collaborations with artists like Beyoncé, Drake, The Weeknd, and Bad Bunny. Songs like “Meltdown,” “FE!N,” and “K-POP” dominated streaming charts, and gained a lot of traction on social media.
