Young Thug has addressed the reason behind the latest delay of his highly anticipated album UY Scuti, confirming that he pushed the release back one week out of respect for Cardi B.
Originally set to arrive on September 19, UY Scuti will now drop on September 26. On X/Twitter, the Atlanta rapper explained his decision, writing: “Y’all know I wasn’t dropping Friday. It’s a ladies day. Do yo s**t @iamcardib.”

The move clears the way for Cardi B’s sophomore album, Am I the Drama?, which lands on September 19 after years of anticipation. Her first album, Invasion of Privacy (2018), made history with a Grammy win and a string of record-breaking singles, raising expectations for her long-awaited follow-up.
For Thug, UY Scuti is more than just another release. It marks his first full-length project since leaving jail in late 2024, following the high-profile YSL RICO case. The album title—named after the largest known star in the universe—suggests the rapper’s ambition to reassert his place at the center of hip-hop. Since many fans are highly anticipating this release, Thug didn’t want to overshadow Cardi’s long-awaited sophomore album.
The road to UY Scuti has been anything but smooth. The project was first expected in May but was delayed for final adjustments. Fans got their first taste earlier this month with “Miss My Dogs,” a deeply personal single paired with a handwritten letter to friends and collaborators, including Mariah The Scientist and Drake.
Thug has also leaned heavily on creative promotion. From holding a custom NBA jersey emblazoned with the album’s title to rolling out cryptic billboards at Coachella reading, “The universe has been too quiet. Until now,” every step has fueled speculation and excitement.
For now, fans will have to wait just a little longer. But judging by the scale of hype around both Young Thug’s and Cardi B’s projects, the next two weeks are shaping up to be a defining moment for hip-hop in 2025.
