Cynthia Erivo is reflecting on one of the most emotional moments of Ariana Grande’s Eternal Sunshine Tour. A day after joining Grande onstage at London’s O2 Arena, the Wicked star shared a heartfelt Instagram post thanking her friend and co-star for inviting her to perform together once again.
Alongside photos from the unforgettable night, Erivo wrote directly to Grande: “Ari, my sweet sister, my favorite person to sing with. Thank you for inviting me to share your stage, singing 2 songs that represent such a massive part of our lives. This is what we do it for, for the love of the work and for all of the fans. I missed this. We missed this. And I wish I had more words, but to put it simply, I will never forget this night. Like a handprint on my heart. All my love, Cynthia.”
The message arrived after Erivo made a surprise appearance during Grande’s concert on August 16 at The O2 Arena in London. After being spotted in the audience earlier in the evening, Erivo joined Grande midway through the show for an emotional performance of “For Good,” one of the defining songs from Wicked. The duet reunited the pair following years of collaboration on the blockbuster film adaptations, where Ariana Grande portrays Glinda and Cynthia Erivo stars as Elphaba.
The guest appearance came during the second night of Grande’s 10-show London residency, which serves as the final stop of the Eternal Sunshine Tour. Just one night earlier, the singer launched the European leg with an updated setlist featuring the live debuts of “kiss me” and “bad thing (bunny hop),” both taken from her new Billboard 200 No. 1 album, petal.
