LISA has scored another major YouTube milestone with “Tarantino,” which generated 41.9 million views in its first 24 hours, making it second biggest music video debuts of 2026. The BLACKPINK star now holds the three most-viewed music videos by a K-pop soloist in YouTube’s first-day rankings, with “LALISA” and “SaWaDiKa” occupying the top two positions.

Released on October 23 alongside her six-track EP PRESS PLAY, “Tarantino” recorded the second-biggest opening day for a music video on YouTube this year, trailing only LISA’s own “SaWaDiKa.” The new visual also ranks as the third-most-viewed music video by a K-pop soloist in its first 24 hours, extending her dominance in a category that includes some of the genre’s biggest global stars.

With 73.6 million first-day views, “LALISA” remains at No. 1, followed by “SaWaDiKa” with 73.3 million. “Tarantino” enters the ranking at No. 3 with 41.9 million, giving LISA all three positions. The achievement also gives LISA the most music videos among soloists to debut with more than 40 million YouTube views in their first 24 hours. She now has three such videos, breaking a tie with Taylor Swift, who has two.

Directed by Grammy-winning filmmaker James Mackel, the “Tarantino” video takes a cinematic approach, casting LISA as a blonde, leather-clad action heroine in a spy thriller. The story begins in a lavish hotel room, where she receives a mysterious red letter before intruders interrupt her plans. A fight sequence follows, establishing her character as a formidable presence who takes control rather than running from danger.

The action continues through the hotel, including a dance sequence with chambermaids and bellboys before the confrontation moves into the kitchen. Choreography, stylized violence and a grainy film texture give the three-and-a-half-minute video the feel of a compact action movie, with visual references to the pulp storytelling associated with Quentin Tarantino and the action style of Kill Bill. The final scene leaves the red letter’s message unexplained, ending the narrative on an unresolved note.

“Tarantino” is part of PRESS PLAY, LISA’s first solo project since her 2025 album Alter Ego. The six-track EP also features “SaWaDiKa,” released on September 4, whose Thai-inspired imagery and bass-heavy production helped establish the project’s visual direction. During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, LISA described the EP as a movie, with each track representing a different character while contributing to a larger story about her journey from Thailand to global stardom.
