Cardi B has made it clear that she isn’t concerned about release-date competition—even when it involves one of pop’s biggest stars. During a recent X Spaces conversation, the rapper dismissed suggestions that she should have avoided releasing new music on the same day as Ariana Grande’s new album, petal.
Responding to fans who questioned the timing, Cardi said: “‘Maybe you should’ve dropped after Ariana,’ no… I don’t care if there’s albums coming out. If I want to drop, Imma drop.”
The comments come nearly two weeks after Cardi released her new single “AH HA” on July 31, the same day Ariana Grande unveiled her seventh studio album, petal. Despite sharing a release date with one of the year’s biggest pop projects, Cardi’s latest single delivered a strong commercial debut, reaching No. 1 on the U.S. iTunes chart on release day before entering the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 25 earlier this week.
“AH HA” marks Cardi’s latest solo release as she continues building anticipation for her highly anticipated third studio album, CB3. Throughout 2026, the rapper has repeatedly assured supporters that the project is nearing completion. During a livestream earlier this year, she teased, “Before the year ends? Another one. Album three coming up.”
Outside the studio, Cardi has also been looking ahead to her next live era. While reflecting on her Little Miss Drama Tour, she revealed plans for a significantly larger global trek supporting her upcoming album, explaining that lessons learned from her previous arena run will help shape an even bigger production. The 35-date tour, which supported 2025’s Am I the Drama?, sold approximately 453,000 tickets and grossed $70 million between February and April 2026.
Ariana Grande, meanwhile, has enjoyed one of the year’s biggest commercial rollouts with petal. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 295,000 equivalent album units, becoming her seventh chart-topping project. Its success extended to the Billboard Hot 100, where all 12 tracks landed inside the Top 40, pushing Grande’s career total to 110 entries and making her only the fourth female artist to surpass the 100-hit milestone.
Commercially, petal also generated more than 249 million global Spotify streams during its opening week, while singles including “hate that i made you love me” and the title track reached No. 1 on Spotify’s Daily Global chart.
