ROSÉ has spoken candidly about the emotional toll of fame and why she avoids discussing her dating life in public, revealing how easily her words can be misinterpreted and weaponized.
Appearing on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast, the BLACKPINK vocalist became visibly emotional while explaining the fear that accompanies even the most casual personal questions. For ROSÉ, the issue is not secrecy, but the loss of control that follows a single comment.
“The first thing when you ask something like that, it’s like all the articles, all the comments — I just see it like roll down,” she said. “And who has been plotting my downfall being like, ‘This is the comment we take.’”
She explained that every answer feels permanent, capable of being revisited and reshaped long after the moment has passed. “If anything happens, this is the interview we go back to,” she continued, describing how remarks are often reframed to build narratives she never intended.
The singer admitted that the pressure prevents her from giving even simple responses. “I would love to just be like ‘yes’ or ‘no,’” she said. “But being like, ‘Is this going to define who I am?’ How sad. How sad of a reality is that?”
ROSÉ reflected on how speculation surrounding female artists often escalates quickly, reducing complex individuals to headlines and assumptions. “It makes me sad for a lot of the industry,” she said. “I feel like it’s just a normal thing.”
She also addressed the added scrutiny placed on K-pop artists navigating global fame. “Just because I was from a K-pop group doesn’t mean I am a different type of human being,” ROSÉ stated. “I think we’re all born with legs and arms, and everyone’s human.”
