Ariana Grande has ended Olivia Rodrigo’s three-month run at the top of the fan-voted new music rankings. Grande’s “petal,” the title track from her new album, emerged as July’s favorite new song after a month packed with major releases from KATSEYE, JENNIE, Charli xcx and rising pop newcomer ADÉLA.
Ariana Grande’s victory comes during one of the biggest months of her career in 2026. “petal” arrived as the centerpiece of her new album, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 295,000 equivalent album units in the United States, giving Grande her seventh chart-topping album.
The title track quickly established itself as one of the project’s defining moments. Its fan support helped it stand apart in a month where several acts competed for attention, ultimately giving Grande her first monthly win after Rodrigo dominated the previous three months with songs from her album you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love.
KATSEYE delivered one of July’s biggest breakthroughs with “Animal,” which also became a major streaming and chart success. The song entered the top five on Spotify’s Global chart, marking the group’s first appearance in the region, while its Billboard Hot 100 debut became KATSEYE’s highest yet.
JENNIE also made a strong return to solo music with “Less Than a Lover.” Released July 24, the song opened at No. 34 on Spotify’s Daily Top Songs Global chart with 2.261 million streams and simultaneously topped iTunes charts in at least 27 countries. The track marked her first solo release since her 2025 album Ruby and quickly became one of the month’s most discussed pop releases.
Charli xcx added another left-field highlight with “Camera,” released July 21 as the fourth single from Music, Fashion, Film. ADÉLA, meanwhile, used July to announce herself as a new name to watch. “Ain’t In LA,” the synth-pop single from her upcoming debut album Prima, earned the Slovak singer-songwriter her first Billboard Hot 100 entry, marking a major breakthrough for an artist still establishing her identity on the international pop scene.
