Ariana Grande is preparing to open a new chapter with Petal, her eighth studio album arriving July 31, 2026. The project marks her return to pop following the success of Eternal Sunshine and introduces a more experimental, emotionally direct side of the singer-songwriter.
After months of teasing, cryptic visuals and live reveals during her Eternal Sunshine Tour, Ariana Grande’s new album is just a few hours away from release. Here is everything fans need to know before Petal arrives.
Ariana Grande’s Petal Release Date and Details
Petal will be released on Friday, July 31, 2026, through Grande’s own imprint Babydoll Music under an exclusive license with Republic Records. The album follows her seventh studio album, Eternal Sunshine, which arrived in 2024 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
The upcoming record contains 12 tracks and was co-written and executive produced by Grande alongside longtime collaborator Ilya Salmanzadeh. The album will be available across digital platforms, CD, cassette and vinyl formats, including an exclusive “Cloudy Gray Girl” vinyl edition.
Ariana Grande first announced the album on April 28, revealing its title and cover artwork. The cover presents a black-and-white close-up image of the singer smiling with her brunette hair partially covering her face, moving away from the signature ponytail look that has defined much of her recent public image.
The Meaning Behind Petal
Throughout the rollout, Ariana Grande has described Petal as one of her most personal and emotionally unfiltered projects.
In a May 7 Instagram video, she called the album “a little feral” and explained that it explores feelings she had previously been “too shy or polite to tap into before.” Grande said the project came from a place of letting go and confronting negative attachments, describing the creative process as a moment of finally saying “f*** it.”
The pop superstar also explained that the themes of Petal are designed to connect with listeners’ own experiences. Rather than focusing on one specific situation, the album explores the process of breaking away from emotional weight, personal struggles and relationships that no longer serve a purpose.
During an interview for Petal Radio on Apple Music, Grande revealed that the album represents a different creative direction compared to her previous work. “It is very experimental and different for me,” she said. “I wrote from a place that I don’t usually, which was an unfiltered rage.”
How Petal Follows Eternal Sunshine
The arrival of Petal comes after a major period in Grande’s career. Released in March 2024, Eternal Sunshine became her sixth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 and produced two Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles: “Yes, And?” and “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love).”
The album cycle also coincided with Grande’s work as Glinda in Wicked (2024) and Wicked: For Good (2025), a period that included a global press tour, awards campaigns and major acting commitments.
In January 2026, she admitted that creating another album would require “an extra brain and four more arms” due to her packed schedule. However, she continued working on Petal, eventually shaping the record into what she has called a new form of artistic expression.
Petal Lead Single “Hate That I Made You Love Me”
Ariana Grande officially launched the Petal era with “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” released on May 29, 2026.
The song was produced by Grande, Salmanzadeh and Max Martin, continuing the singer’s long-running creative partnership with some of pop’s most influential producers. Commercially, the track became a major success, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart.
Ariana Grande Petal Tracklist
Ariana Grande revealed the Petal tracklist gradually during stops on her Eternal Sunshine Tour.
The opening track, “Kiss Me,” was revealed through pre-show visuals during her first concert at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena. At her second show on June 14, a countdown display briefly revealed the title track, “Petal.”
The remaining songs were unveiled during her June 19 performance at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California.

Petal Pre-Save Records and Promotion
Before its release, Petal achieved a major streaming milestone. The album surpassed 3.2 million Spotify pre-saves, becoming only the third album by a female artist to reach that mark, following Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl and Olivia Rodrigo’s You Seem Pretty Sad For a Girl So in Love.
Grande has also transformed the album rollout into a global fan experience. She hosted listening events at independent record stores worldwide, including 16 locations across 13 Canadian cities from July 31 to August 2. A Petal pop-up event at Complex LA is also scheduled to run from July 31 through August 2.
During the Montreal stop of the Eternal Sunshine Tour on July 28, Ariana Grande performed the album’s title track, “Petal,” live for the first time just two days before the record’s official arrival.
