Lady Gaga returns to her dance-pop and house roots—the sound that defined her early career—and the result is exactly what we needed from her. Mayhem is packed with bangers that make listeners want to dance, from “Abracadabra” to “Zombieboy.” Several songs draw inspiration from 1980s synth-pop, particularly tracks like “Don’t Call Tonight” and “Killah,” the latter of which samples David Bowie’s iconic “Fame.”

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Gaga stated, “The album is imbued with my love for music: a diversity of genres, styles, and dreams. […] That’s my answer to all the chaos in my life: I find peace in love.” To bring this mix of electronic, dance-pop, and synth-pop to life, the pop superstar enlisted some of the genre’s biggest names, including French DJ and producer Gesaffelstein, Cirkut, and Andrew Watt, who produced every song on the record.

Gaga is now gearing up for a series of live performances. Though she has only hinted at a tour, the 38-year-old icon will headline Coachella in April and has also scheduled concerts in Mexico City and Rio de Janeiro. As we await the chance to experience Mayhem live, here is InMusic’s ranking of all the tracks from Lady Gaga’s seventh studio album.
