The Recording Academy has officially unveiled the key timeline for the 2027 Grammy Awards, setting the stage for another major awards season as artists race to secure eligibility before the August deadline. The 69th Annual Grammy Awards will take place on February 7, 2027, at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena, marking the beginning of a new broadcast era for music’s biggest night.
According to the newly released schedule, the eligibility period for the 2027 Grammys runs from August 31, 2025, through August 31, 2026. Nominees will then be announced on November 16, 2026, before Recording Academy members enter final-round voting between December 10, 2026, and January 7, 2027.
The upcoming ceremony carries added significance beyond the awards themselves. After more than five decades on CBS, the Grammys are officially moving to ABC beginning in 2027 as part of a new 10-year media agreement that also includes streaming availability on Disney+ and Hulu. The transition was first announced in October 2024 and represents one of the largest broadcasting shifts in the show’s history.
This year’s eligibility window immediately places several major releases in contention. Ariana Grande’s upcoming album Petal, set for release on July 31, 2026, comfortably falls within the cutoff period, while 2025 projects from artists including Cardi B (Am I The Drama?), Olivia Dean (The Art of Loving), and Zara Larsson (Midnight Sun) are also expected to compete across major categories.
However, Taylor Swift once again leads the conversation, as her twelfth studio album The Life of a Showgirl is widely expected to earn multiple nominations. Competition for the 2027 Grammys may also be among the tightest in recent years. The year has already delivered major releases from BTS (ARIRANG) and Noah Kahan (The Great Divide), while more high-profile projects are still on the way, including Drake’s Iceman and Olivia Rodrigo’s You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love.
Momentum heading into the 69th Grammys follows one of the most talked-about ceremonies in recent memory. The 2026 edition saw Kendrick Lamar dominate the rap field once again, winning five awards including Best Rap Album for GNX and Record of the Year for “Luther.” Those victories pushed Lamar past Jay-Z as the most-awarded rapper in Grammy history.
Bad Bunny also made headlines after Debí Tirar Más Fotos became the first Spanish-language album ever to win Album of the Year. Elsewhere, Billie Eilish and Finneas expanded their historic run in the general field by winning Song of the Year for “Wildflower,” while Olivia Dean secured Best New Artist.
Another major change surrounds the hosting situation. Trevor Noah stepped down after hosting six consecutive ceremonies, meaning the Recording Academy has yet to announce who will front the first ABC-era Grammys.
