BLACKPINK have once again made history. At the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, the global K-pop powerhouse became the first group ever to be nominated both collectively and with each member individually in the same year.
Earlier this month, VMAs organizers confirmed that all four members earned solo nods in the Best K-Pop category, a first in the award show’s history. JISOO’s debut EP Amortage, LISA’s Alter Ego, JENNIE’s Ruby, and ROSÉ’s Rosie each delivered standout tracks that secured massive success.
On top of that, BLACKPINK are also in the running for Best Group, competing against acts like aespa, SEVENTEEN, Stray Kids, KATSEYE, Imagine Dragons, My Chemical Romance, Coldplay, and the Jonas Brothers. The group reunited earlier this summer, unveiling “Jump” as the lead single from their upcoming comeback project.

At the 2025 VMAs, ROSÉ in particular has made history of her own. With eight nominations this year, she now holds the record for the most nominations ever received in a single year by a K-pop act—surpassing the milestone previously set by BTS. Her collaboration with Bruno Mars on “APT” earned recognition across major categories, including Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Collaboration, and Best Cinematography.
Overall, Lady Gaga leads with twelve nominations, followed by Bruno Mars with eleven and Kendrick Lamar with ten. Set to take place on September 7 at UBS Arena in Long Island, New York, the awards will air live on both CBS and MTV, with streaming available on Paramount+.
