Doja Cat has officially broken a new streaming milestone with her new single “Jealous Type,” which debuted with 3.17 million streams on its first day, making it the biggest solo debut for a female rapper in Spotify’s history. In addition, the song debuted at No. 14 on the Daily Global Spotify chart, the highest new entry of the day, setting the stage for her highly anticipated fifth studio album, Vie.

Released on August 15 via Kemosabe and RCA Records, “Jealous Type” not only smashed records but also introduced fans to a new side of Doja Cat. The track, produced by Jack Antonoff—known for shaping the sounds of Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, and Lorde—leans into a more melodic, pop-driven direction. This marks a noticeable shift from the darker, rap-heavy energy of her previous album Scarlet.
Fans first heard “Jealous Type” earlier this month at San Francisco’s Outside Lands Festival, where the 29-year-old rapper previewed the track during her headlining set.
The upcoming album Vie, set for release on September 26, will feature 15 tracks, making it Doja’s longest project yet. The project will mark her fifth full-length release, following the critically acclaimed Scarlet (2023), Planet Her (2021), and Hot Pink (2019).
Doja Cat has also announced her upcoming “Tour Ma Vie” world tour, set to begin on November 18 in Auckland, New Zealand. The tour will be her first global trek since her Scarlet tour and is expected to include stops across Europe and North America, with additional dates to be announced soon.
