Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” has made Billboard Hot 100 history once again, extending its unprecedented run at No. 1 to 23 weeks. The country smash now stands alone as the longest-running chart-topper in the history of the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, moving ahead of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which has accumulated 22 weeks at the summit.
The new milestone comes after “Choosin’ Texas” spent 22 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1, tying Carey’s holiday classic before finally breaking the record. Langley’s song has now surpassed every previous benchmark on a chart that has tracked the biggest songs in the United States since August 1958.

Released October 17, 2025, as the lead single from Ella Langley’s second studio album Dandelion, “Choosin’ Texas” was written by Langley alongside Luke Dick, Miranda Lambert and Joybeth Taylor. Lambert also contributes background vocals.
The song’s Hot 100 run began much more quietly. “Choosin’ Texas” debuted at No. 39 on the November 1, 2025-dated chart, marking Langley’s fifth career appearance on the Hot 100 at the time. Its momentum accelerated over the following months, with the track entering the top 10 before reaching No. 1 on February 9, 2026.
That February breakthrough delivered several milestones at once. “Choosin’ Texas” became Langley’s first Hot 100 No. 1 and her first top-10 hit on the chart, while also reaching No. 1 on Hot Country Songs and Streaming Songs. The song became her third Country Airplay chart-topper and made Ella Langley the first female artist to simultaneously lead the Hot 100, Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts with the same song.
Its dominance also reshaped the Hot 100 record book. Before Langley’s latest achievement, Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus and Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” each held the record for the longest-running non-holiday No. 1, with 19 weeks apiece. Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night,” Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito” featuring Justin Bieber, and Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day” each spent 16 weeks at No. 1.
Carey’s holiday anthem had previously stood at the top of the overall list with 22 weeks, accumulated across multiple holiday seasons since it first reached No. 1 in 2019. “Choosin’ Texas” has now moved beyond that total without the benefit of a seasonal chart cycle, giving Langley the longest single run at No. 1 in Hot 100 history.
