Lizzo is giving Mariah Carey her flowers as Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” makes a historic run at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. In a post on X, Lizzo highlighted Carey’s extraordinary chart longevity, calling the singer “a f—ing Icon” while pointing to two of her most important Hot 100 records.
“Can we just appreciate how Mariah Carey has held all of the records for longest #1s?” Lizzo wrote. She specifically referenced “One Sweet Day” and “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” two songs that helped define Carey’s place in the Hot 100 record book.

The post arrived shortly after Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” reached its 23rd week at No. 1, officially moving past Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” as the longest-running chart-topper in Billboard Hot 100 history. Mariah Carey’s holiday classic had accumulated 22 weeks at the summit across multiple holiday seasons since first reaching No. 1 in 2019.
Before that record fell, “All I Want for Christmas Is You” had already surpassed the 19-week marks established by Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Old Town Road” and Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy).” Its achievement was particularly unusual because its chart dominance is tied to the recurring holiday season, allowing the song to return to the summit year after year.
“One Sweet Day,” Carey’s 1995 collaboration with Boyz II Men, represents another defining chapter in her chart history. The ballad spent 16 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100 between 1995 and 1996, setting a record that stood for more than two decades before being surpassed by “Despacito” in 2017.
Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” now sits above both milestones, although its path to the top was very different from Carey’s holiday standard. Released October 17, 2025, the country song debuted at No. 39 on the Hot 100 dated November 1 before gradually building momentum. It reached No. 1 on February 9, 2026, becoming Langley’s first leader and first top-10 hit on the chart.
