PinkPantheress has once again captured listeners with her nostalgic, genre-blending sound in her new 2025 mixtape, Fancy That. Released on May 9 through Warner Records UK, the nine-track project marks her return to form following her debut album Heaven Knows (2023). Packed with short but emotionally rich tracks, Fancy That is a sonic collage of Y2K pop, UK garage, drum and bass, and early 2000s dance music. A standout feature of this release is its clever and diverse use of samples, pulling from iconic artists across decades.

The mixtape pays tribute to a range of influences. PinkPantheress herself has cited Remedy, the 1999 album by Basement Jaxx, as a major inspiration, saying it “blew me away.” That influence is heard loud and clear across several tracks.

Here is a breakdown of every known sample used in Fancy That:

• “Tonight” samples “Do You Know What I’m Seeing?” by Panic! At the Disco

• “Noises” includes samples from “Suntoucher” by Groove Armada feat. Jeru the Damaja (2001), “Who Want Smoke?” by Nardo Wick (2021), and “Triple Threat” by Z-3 MC’s (1985)

• “Romeo” features elements of “Good Luck” by Basement Jaxx feat. Lisa Kekaula (2003)

• “Illegal” samples “Dark & Long (Dark Train Mix)” by Underworld (1994)

• “Stars” includes samples from “Oh My Gosh” by Basement Jaxx feat. Vula Malinga and Skillah (2005), and “Starz in Their Eyes” by Just Jack (2006)

• “Girl Like Me” uses elements from “Romeo” (2001) and “Always Be There” (1999) by Basement Jaxx
