KATSEYE gave fans an early taste of their upcoming WILD EP Tuesday night, performing their unreleased song “That Way” for the first time during Spotify’s invite-only KLUB KATSEYE event in New York City. The intimate showcase, held on August 11, brought the group’s biggest Spotify listeners together just three days before the release of their third EP, WILD.
The event was created exclusively for KATSEYE’s top Spotify listeners, and featured immersive installations inspired by the new project before the members took the stage. Daniela, Lara, Megan and Yoonchae performed as a quartet, with Sophia and Manon currently on hiatus for health and wellness reasons.
“That Way” is positioned as the fifth track on the standard edition of WILD and offers another glimpse at the confident, flirtatious tone KATSEYE is embracing for the new era. Produced by Johnny Goldstein, the pop track centers on the group setting the terms in a relationship and making it clear that anyone unwilling to meet those expectations can simply walk away.
During the live performance, KATSEYE delivered lyrics including, “You could be mine if you’re lucky / You might even get the privilege to touch me that way,” underscoring the song’s playful but assertive approach. The performance marked the first time fans had heard the track performed live in full ahead of its official release. The New York showcase also featured performances of KATSEYE’s early hits “Gnarly” and “Gabriela.”
“That Way” joins “Animal,” “Pinky Up,” “Hootie Frutti” and “Bel Air” on the standard edition of WILD. A Target-exclusive bonus track, “Unloveu,” will also appear on the expanded version, with member Lara Raj receiving co-writing and production credits on the song.
Recently, the group reached a major achievement with “Animal.” The Ed Sheeran co-written track debuted at No. 24 on the Billboard Hot 100 last week, becoming KATSEYE’s highest-charting debut to date and surpassing the opening positions of both “Pinky Up” and “Internet Girl.”
