Linkin Park has officially unveiled the first trailer for UNSHATTER, a feature-length film documenting the band’s emotional return following years away from the spotlight. The movie will receive a limited worldwide theatrical release beginning September 30, while tickets go on sale August 13 through the official UNSHATTER website.
Directed by band member Joe Hahn, the trailer offers an intimate look at Linkin Park’s journey from uncertainty to renewal. It combines behind-the-scenes studio footage dating back to 2022, electrifying live performances—including the band’s From Zero concert in São Paulo—and heartfelt fan reactions, all while acknowledging the lasting legacy of late frontman Chester Bennington. One poignant moment even features a mural honoring Bennington, reinforcing the film’s central themes of grief, resilience, friendship, and artistic rebirth.
Rather than presenting a conventional retrospective, UNSHATTER follows the band’s creative process as it unfolded in real time. After stepping away for seven years following Bennington’s death, the remaining members gradually rediscovered their direction alongside new additions Emily Armstrong and Colin Brittain. According to the official synopsis, the film traces that evolution from intimate recording sessions to the release of From Zero and the group’s triumphant return to the stage.
Joe Hahn explained that the title reflects the band’s mindset throughout the project. “Something can be broken, rebuilt, and still carry its scars,” he said in a director’s statement, adding that resilience comes from accepting the past while continuing to move forward. Hahn also revealed that the documentary was never originally planned. The project began simply as an effort to capture the band’s 2024 São Paulo performance, but as cameras continued rolling, it became clear that a much larger story was emerging.
The filmmaker emphasized that he wanted audiences to experience the uncertainty the band felt rather than presenting events with the benefit of hindsight. Having lived through every stage of the comeback, Hahn said he felt a responsibility to portray honest conversations, creative struggles, and moments of doubt instead of relying on the narrative already shaped by headlines and interviews.
Alongside the film, Linkin Park will release the UNSHATTER Film Soundtrack (Live in São Paulo) on September 25. The companion album will feature live performances spanning the band’s entire catalog, including exclusive recordings not heard in the film itself, giving fans another way to revisit the historic concert that sparked the documentary.
