LISA is taking ALWAYS LALISA from the film festival circuit to cinemas worldwide. The BLACKPINK star has announced that her first feature-length documentary will receive a limited theatrical and IMAX release beginning October 12, with tickets going on sale September 9.

ALWAYS LALISA will give fans the opportunity to experience Lisa’s solo journey on the big screen, following a year in which she expanded her career well beyond BLACKPINK. Directed by Sue Kim, the documentary captures the making and release of her debut solo album Alter Ego, her landmark Coachella performance, acting debut as Mook in HBO’s The White Lotus Season 3 and her return to Thailand to reconnect with family and longtime friends.

The film will receive its world premiere at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival on September 12. Its TIFF debut places the documentary among the festival’s major music-related premieres and offers audiences an early look at the more personal side of Lisa’s transition from K-pop group member to global solo star.

Rather than focusing exclusively on concert footage, ALWAYS LALISA follows Lisa through the highs and pressures of a pivotal year. Kim spent 12 months traveling with the singer, documenting the creative process behind Alter Ego while also capturing quieter moments away from the stage and her connection to her Thai roots.

Alter Ego, released in February 2025, marked Lisa’s first solo studio album and debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200. The project featured singles including “Rockstar,” “New Woman” with Rosalía and “Born Again” with Doja Cat and RAYE, establishing a solo identity that continued to grow independently from her work with BLACKPINK.

The documentary also arrives as Lisa enters another major phase of her solo career. Her upcoming EP PRESS PLAY is scheduled for October 23 through RCA Records under exclusive license from Lloud Co., with lead single “SaWaDiKa” arriving September 3. The project places renewed emphasis on Lisa’s Thai heritage, following a promotional campaign built around the phrase “HELLO สวัสดีค่ะ” and imagery connected to Thailand.
