Lorde turned the opening night of Lollapalooza 2026 into a full-circle celebration on Thursday (July 30), headlining Grant Park with a career-spanning set that moved between her biggest hits, fan-favorite deep cuts and material from 2025’s Virgin. The night also delivered an unexpected reunion when Charli xcx joined her onstage for the “Girl, so confusing” remix.
Opening with a new unreleased song, Lorde quickly established the tone for a performance that balanced the visceral energy of Virgin with songs that have defined different chapters of her career.
The set leaned heavily on Virgin, with “What Was That,” “Broken Glass,” “Shapeshifter,” “Favourite Daughter,” “Current Affairs,” “Hammer,” “Man of the Year” and “David” appearing alongside selections from her earlier albums. Tracks such as “Perfect Places,” “The Louvre,” “Hard Feelings” and “Supercut” represented Melodrama, while “Royals” and “Team” brought Pure Heroine back into the spotlight.
The biggest surprise came when Charli xcx walked onto the stage for “Girl, so confusing (Remix).” The collaboration, originally released on Charli’s 2024 remix project Brat and It’s Completely Different but Also Still Brat, transformed the song’s complicated subject matter into a celebratory festival moment.
