Mariah Carey has once again rewritten the record books. This week, the pop icon officially becomes the first artist in history to spend a cumulative 100 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The historic achievement is powered by “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which remains at the top spot for a record-extending 21st total week at No. 1. Released in November 1994 on Carey’s holiday album Merry Christmas, the song continues to define the modern holiday season and remains unmatched in both longevity and cultural impact.
With this latest chart-topping frame, Carey reaches her 100th career week at No. 1 across 19 different Hot 100 leaders, dating back to her 1990 debut single “Vision of Love.” The gap between Carey and her closest competitors is significant. Rihanna ranks second with 60 weeks at No. 1, followed by The Beatles with 59 and Drake with 56.
“All I Want for Christmas Is You” also claims another major record this week. The song logs its 78th week on the Hot 100, surpassing Dua Lipa’s “Levitating” as the longest-charting song ever by a female artist.
Two weeks ago, the holiday classic returned to No. 1 to begin its seventh consecutive holiday season atop the chart, an all-time record. “AIWFCIY” first reached No. 1 in 2019. Since then, it has ruled the chart repeatedly, including multi-week runs in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and now 2025.
