Miley Cyrus has offered a fresh hint about plans tied to the upcoming 20th anniversary of Hannah Montana, signaling that a long-awaited project may finally be taking shape. The pop star and actress teased the development while attending the 37th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Film Awards on Saturday, January 3, where she was honored with the inaugural Outstanding Artistic Achievement Award for “Dream As One” from Avatar: Fire and Ash.
Speaking with Variety on the red carpet, Cyrus was asked directly about the milestone anniversary of the Disney Channel phenomenon that launched her career. “We’re working hard on them,” she said, carefully choosing her words. When pressed for further details, she declined to elaborate, instead offering a playful clue with a laugh: “You see the bangs.” The comment, subtle yet intentional, immediately fueled speculation among fans, many of whom associate the hairstyle with her early Hannah Montana era.
Cyrus’ remarks align with her recent efforts to manage expectations surrounding the franchise’s return. In a separate Variety interview, the Grammy-winning artist confirmed that conversations about a potential anniversary project are ongoing, but emphasized that nothing has been finalized. “TBD. That’s still in the works,” she said, stressing that any tribute to Hannah Montana must feel purposeful. “I want to make something that’s meaningful, thoughtful, really satisfying for the fans. I want fans to feel seen.”
Interest in the Hannah Montana legacy has surged ahead of its 20th anniversary in 2026. The series aired from 2006 to 2011 and became one of Disney Channel’s most successful franchises, producing chart-topping soundtracks, sold-out global tours, and a feature film. Cyrus’ portrayal of Miley Stewart and her pop alter ego Hannah Montana helped define a generation of young viewers and served as the foundation for her global music career.
In recent months, Cyrus has also pushed back against rumors of a reboot that would exclude her involvement. While promoting “Dream As One,” she made her stance clear. “I don’t know if there’s a new Hannah — this is the only Hannah,” she said, reinforcing her desire to remain closely involved in how the franchise is honored.
The renewed focus on Hannah Montana arrives during a strong creative period for Cyrus. Her latest album, Something Beautiful, debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and earned widespread critical acclaim.
