Post Malone gave fans their first taste of new music during the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final on July 19, opening the pregame ceremony at MetLife Stadium with the live debut of “Chrome Heartbreaker.” The previously unheard track immediately sparked speculation that it will serve as the lead single from his rumored upcoming album, The Eternal Buzz.
The performance kicked off one of the biggest sporting events of the year, with Spain facing Argentina in the World Cup final. Before the match began, Post Malone took the stage for a high-energy set that introduced the new song before transitioning into two of his biggest hits, “Wow.” and “Sunflower.” Swae Lee later joined him to perform their blockbuster collaboration, giving the crowd one of the ceremony’s standout moments.
“Chrome Heartbreaker” had already generated anticipation after Malone teased the song across social media in the days leading up to the event. Hearing it performed live for the first time only intensified discussion about his next musical era, especially as fans pointed to its hip-hop production and melodic hooks as a return to the sound that first established him as a global superstar.
The pregame festivities featured an all-star lineup beyond Malone’s performance. Jennifer Hudson delivered the U.S. national anthem, while appearances from Tom Cruise, IShowSpeed and several other celebrities added to the spectacle before kickoff.
The debut follows months of growing speculation surrounding Malone’s new album. On July 16, he shared a brief studio teaser featuring another unreleased track with the caption, “That one mofo that don’t know when to leave…” The clip showcased a distinctly rap-influenced sound, prompting widespread belief that his next release would mark a return to hip-hop after two years centered on country music.
Hints about the album have surfaced throughout 2026. Earlier this year, Malone told fans during a concert that he and his team had been “in the studio working very, very hard,” teasing “a lot of awesome” new material without confirming an album. Back in April, he also appeared to preview a massive double album titled The Eternal Buzz, reportedly consisting of 40 tracks split across two discs.
If that project materializes, it would follow the success of F-1 Trillion, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in August 2024 with 250,000 equivalent album units. That record firmly established Malone as a major force in country music through collaborations with artists including Morgan Wallen, Dolly Parton, Luke Combs and Tim McGraw.
