Tate McRae’s next musical chapter is already generating major industry hype, and one of her closest collaborators believes it could push her career to another level entirely. Recently, Ryan Tedder praised the singer’s newest material in striking terms, calling the songs “phenomenal” while teasing that McRae is currently operating with a new level of creative confidence.

The music is phenomenal,” the OneRepublic frontman and producer said. “The first handful sessions we did, she walked in and she snapped. She’s on another level of writing and inspiration. I’ll just say that I’m extremely excited… She could be the biggest artist in the world.

Tedder’s comments arrive as McRae continues dropping subtle hints that a new era is already underway. Over the past several weeks, the Canadian pop star has shared photos from recording studios across social media, fueling speculation that new music could arrive sooner rather than later following the end of her massive Miss Possessive Tour.

The producer has played a pivotal role in McRae’s rise over the past three years. Tedder co-wrote and produced several of her defining hits, including “Greedy,” “Sports Car,” “It’s Ok I’m Ok,” “2 Hands,” and “Revolving Door,” helping shape the sleek pop sound that transformed her from viral breakout into one of streaming’s biggest young stars.

His latest remarks also build on comments he made in late 2025, when he teased one unreleased McRae track as “the most innuendo record I’ve been a part of in forever.” At the time, Tedder admitted the song’s lyrical direction even caught him off guard. “I listen and blush,” he said. “I’m like, ‘Oh god, let’s see if we can get away with it.’”

That creative evolution has coincided with McRae’s biggest commercial run yet. Her sophomore album So Close to What debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in February 2025, becoming the first chart-topper of her career. Months later, “Tit for Tat” continued that momentum online, sparking intense fan discussion thanks to its pointed lyrical references widely linked to ex-boyfriend The Kid Laroi.
