Sombr is ready to deliver his full-length debut. In an announcement on social media, the rising pop and indie talent revealed that his first album, I Barely Know Her, will arrive on August 22 via Warner Records.
Written and co-produced entirely by Sombr—whose real name is Shane Michael Boose—the 10-track record blends heartfelt lyricism with sleek production, a combination that has quickly made him one of the most exciting emerging artists in the industry. The album includes previously released singles “Back To Friends,” “Undressed,” and last month’s “12 To 12,” alongside six new songs that broaden his emotional palette. The momentum behind I Barely Know Her is already strong. “Back To Friends” spent multiple days at No. 1 on the Daily Global Spotify Chart and peaked within the top 10 in the UK, while “Undressed” went viral across TikTok and Instagram. These successes, paired with his MTV VMA nominations, signal a breakthrough year for Sombr.
The album’s release will be followed closely by his headlining North American tour, kicking off September 22 in Charleston, South Carolina, with stops in major cities including New York, Los Angeles, and Toronto.
Sombr’s journey has been anything but typical. Starting with a makeshift bedroom studio during his teenage years, he refined his craft at New York’s LaGuardia High School, the institution that inspired the film Fame. His early singles “Caroline” and “Willow” quickly became Zillennial playlist staples, earning him a loyal fanbase drawn to his blend of vulnerability and melody. Between 2022 and 2023, he built a strong catalog with several singles and the EP In Another Life (2023). In the first half of 2025, his music reached a wider audience, and at just 20, Sombr is already one of the most successful artists of his generation.
