“Ordinary” — Alex Warren

The breakout single of the summer, Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” captured hearts worldwide with its sweeping chamber-pop sound and emotional storytelling. Released in February as the lead single from his debut album You’ll Be Alright, Kid, the song reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for ten non-consecutive weeks and became the longest-running UK No. 1 of the 2020s so far.

“Shake It To The Max (FLY) – Remix” — MOLIY, Silent Addy feat. Skillibeng & Shenseea

MOLIY’s infectious “Shake It To The Max (FLY)” took on new life with a February 2025 remix featuring dancehall stars Skillibeng and Shenseea. Blending Afrobeats, dancehall, and afrofusion, the track exploded on TikTok thanks to viral dance challenges and became a club staple from Accra to Miami.

“Love Me Not” — Ravyn Lenae

Ravyn Lenae’s “Love Me Not” may have been released in 2024, but it hit peak momentum this summer. The dreamy mix of R&B, soft rock, and art pop—pulled from her acclaimed album Bird’s Eye—struck a chord on TikTok through mashups with Solange and viral edits. Its vulnerable yet independent lyrics—“Oh no, I don’t need you, but I miss you”—resonated with millions, helping the song climb to No. 5 on the Hot 100.

“Manchild” — Sabrina Carpenter

Already one of 2025’s biggest stars, Sabrina Carpenter scored another summer-defining hit with “Manchild.” Released in June, the track blends disco-pop gloss with sharp wit, skewering an immature ex through lines like “Why so sexy if so dumb?”

“Back to Friends” — Sombr

Rounding out the list is “Back to Friends” from rising star Sombr. Released at the tail end of 2024, the shimmering indie-pop single became a massive hit in 2025, propelled by TikTok edits and Gen Z’s love for its nostalgic portrayal of young heartbreak. The track not only charted worldwide but also earned platinum certifications in several countries, passing 700 million Spotify streams and launching Sombr into the global spotlight.
