The Weeknd has reached a new, unprecedented milestone in the streaming era. On December 30, the Canadian superstar became the first artist in Spotify history to have 30 songs surpass 1 billion streams each.

The historic moment was confirmed when “Is There Someone Else?”, taken from his 2022 album Dawn FM, officially entered Spotify’s prestigious Billions Club. With that achievement, Abel Tesfaye extended a record he has already been holding for over a year, continuously widening the gap between himself and his closest peers on the platform.

No other artist has yet matched this level of sustained streaming success. Bad Bunny currently sits at 28 billion-stream songs, Drake follows closely with 26, while Ariana Grande has reached 22.

Among The Weeknd’s most-streamed titles are some of the defining hits of the past decade. “Blinding Lights” remains the most-streamed song in Spotify history and was the first track ever to surpass 5 billion streams. Other entries in his billion-stream catalog include “Starboy,” “Die For You,” “The Hills,” “Save Your Tears,” “Call Out My Name,” “Can’t Feel My Face,” and the recent fan favorite “One Of The Girls.”

The record-breaking achievement is closely tied to The Weeknd’s creative peak over the past five years. His trilogy of albums — After Hours, Dawn FM, and Hurry Up Tomorrow — reshaped his artistic identity while delivering massive commercial results. During this period, he also became the first artist in Spotify history to reach 100 million monthly listeners and has remained a fixture among the platform’s most-streamed artists worldwide.
