Tyla is officially hours away from launching the next chapter of her career. Her sophomore studio album, A*POP, arrives tonight, marking one of the most anticipated releases of 2026 after months of teasers, hit singles, and exclusive fan listening events.

When Does Tyla’s A*POP Come Out?
A*POP will be released tonight at midnight, officially introducing Tyla’s second studio album. The rollout has steadily built momentum throughout 2026, culminating in a series of intimate YouTube listening sessions that gave select fans an early preview of the project.
Those events took place in London (July 16), Atlanta (July 19), and New York (July 23), allowing attendees to experience the album before its worldwide release.

The Singles That Introduced the Era
The campaign has already produced several commercially successful releases.
Lead single “Chanel” reached No. 15 on the UK Singles Chart while climbing to No. 43 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming another international crossover hit for the South African star. Follow-up single “She Did It Again,” featuring Zara Larsson, also charted in both the United States and the United Kingdom, expanding the new album’s momentum.
Most recently, “Is It Love” showcased another side of Tyla’s artistry, pairing airy R&B melodies with the Amapiano influences that have become central to her sound.
A More Personal Album
Tyla first announced A*POP during the 2026 GRAMMY Awards, where she made history by becoming the first artist to win Best African Music Performance twice. The reveal immediately sparked anticipation, signaling that a new era had already begun.
Since then, the singer has repeatedly described the album as a reflection of her personal growth. Speaking with Rolling Stone, Tyla explained that she feels fundamentally different than she did while making her debut.
“Me being in it, I feel so different to how I felt during the first album,” she said. “I’m just excited for my new one… I feel like a woman.”
She also contrasted the creative process with the whirlwind surrounding her breakthrough success.
“It was very hectic, it was a rush. It was like all of a sudden, overnight craziness,” Tyla recalled. “Now that I’m settled in, I feel like I know more of my direction—what I want to do, what I want to say.”
That increased confidence is reflected throughout A*POP. Recording sessions began in 2025, primarily in Los Angeles and Barcelona, giving Tyla considerably more time to shape the project than she had for her debut. In an interview with Variety, the “Water” hitmaker revealed she had accumulated a large catalog of material and described the songwriting as significantly more personal because she was “living what I’m singing.”
