Camila Cabello is proving that balancing music and football fandom isn’t always easy. The “Havana” hitmaker returned to social media with another humorous update, revealing that her passionate support during the 2026 FIFA World Cup has come with one unexpected consequence: losing her voice while trying to finish her next album.
“Losing my voice at World Cup games then figuring out how tf I’m gonna sing the next day to write my album cuz life is about balance,” Cabello wrote alongside her latest post.
The comment ties together several moments fans have followed throughout the tournament. Cabello has been a familiar face at multiple World Cup matches, enthusiastically cheering from the stands while documenting the experience across TikTok and Instagram. Following one particularly emotional game involving Mexico, she admitted she had completely lost her voice after celebrating, writing that it was worth it while rallying supporters with “VAMOS CON TODO MEXICO.”
Her connection to Mexico carries personal significance through her father’s Mexican heritage, making those appearances especially meaningful. Cabello also attended Brazil’s match against Scotland in Miami, wearing Brazil’s colors and fully embracing the tournament atmosphere.
The latest post continues a running joke that has accompanied her World Cup updates. During the Brazil-Scotland match, she jokingly apologized to fans waiting for new music, saying, “Sorry that I haven’t finished the album yet, but my priority right now is the World Cup.” She later poked fun at herself again by saying the match helped her realize she desperately needed glasses.
Behind the humor, the updates confirm that work on Cabello’s fifth studio album remains active. Earlier this month, she shared studio photos with none oher Aaron Dessner, whose recent collaborations include projects with Taylor Swift, Gracie Abrams and The National. The images sparked speculation that her new album could explore a more organic, introspective direction following the experimental sound of 2024’s C,XOXO.
Cabello also recently addressed her quieter social media presence, explaining that she has been focused on creating. “If i have been gone it’s because i’m focusing on making things,” she wrote. “yes music and also memories and new mistakes and also bread.”
The upcoming album will follow C,XOXO, which debuted at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 after earning 36,500 equivalent album units in its opening week.
