Charli XCX has given a public stamp of approval to one of the standout tracks from Olivia Rodrigo’s new album. On June 16, the BRAT star took to X (formerly Twitter) with a brief but enthusiastic reaction to Rodrigo’s “maggots for brains,” writing simply: “maggots for brains is so good.”

Despite its simplicity, the post quickly spread across social media, generating tens of thousands of likes and sparking discussion among fans of both artists. The endorsement arrives just days after Rodrigo released her third studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, on June 12 through Geffen Records.

“maggots for brains” has emerged as one of the project’s early fan favorites. The track climbed back into the top 10 of Spotify’s Daily Global Chart on June 15, rising to No. 9 with 3.95 million streams. At the same time, Rodrigo continued her dominance at the top of the platform, holding the No. 1 and No. 2 positions for a fourth consecutive day with “stupid song” and “the cure.”

Charli’s praise adds another notable moment to the conversation surrounding Rodrigo’s new era, which is already shaping up to be the biggest of her career. According to early projections from Hits Daily Double, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love is expected to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with approximately 450,000 equivalent album units in its opening week.

Streaming numbers have been equally impressive. Spotify confirmed that the album generated 81.59 million streams during its first day, making it the biggest single-day streaming debut by a female artist in 2026.

The interaction between the two pop stars comes at a particularly busy moment for both. Charli XCX is preparing to launch her new album Music, Fashion, Film, scheduled for release on July 24. The project follows the cultural phenomenon of BRAT and will be supported by the recently announced Music, Fashion, Film Tour across North America.
